Parlee custom builds each Z1, Z2 and Z3 by hand to your specifications in Peabody, Massachusetts. That means that each tube is chosen to give your bike a ride tailored to nobody but you. Parlee's attention to detail and the quality of their finishes is absolutely astonishing. The end result is a bicycle like no other. It has the optimum stiffness built in for the ride quality you want. Owners say the ride is "magical." It just seems to float over the road but doesn't ever feel mushy or flexy. What Parlee did for custom carbon bikes they set their minds to for production frames in their Z4. To keep costs down they designed a monocoque frame that doesn't require nearly as much hand assembly and finishing as their other models, and they moved production to Asia. The result: a production frame that comes tantalizingly close to riding like a custom.

Our own Michael McTigue has a Z1 but when he rode a Z4 said, "Wow! It does 90% of what the Z1 does for half the cost." Finished entirely in unidirectional carbon, it shimmers in the light. We think it's one of the most beautiful bicycles available in addition to being one of the most comfortable.
