3RDnature presents the Commuter Bike.
Have you ever been stuck in miles of traffic and wished there was a lane open just for you? Actually, there is such a thing— it's called a bike lane. You don't even have to pay extra for it. It comes free with every bike. And after just one ride you'll start to look at them as liberty lanes because you
are no longer held captive by traffic, gridlock, tolls, the price of gasoline or parking. Instead of building up your blood pressure waiting in endless traffic jams, you'll relieve stress (hey, it is exercise) and just go past them. Rather than burning through tanks of gas, you'll be burning calories and getting into the best shape of your life. Then there's all the money you won't be spending on gas, tolls and parking. It's like giving yourself a raise. And then there's your mood: instead of dreading your commute, imagine actually looking forward to it.
Almost any bike can be used to commute. If getting there in the shortest possible time is primary, any of the road bikes we sell will work well. We even have customers who commute on their Time Trial bikes and race themselves everyday. Bicycles made with commuting in mind, however, do offer some advantages like being able to ride in business shoes and clothes (of course, if you have an affinity for lycra and bright colors, who are we to stop you). Plus, if you need to carry a briefcase or package, just stick it on the rack and go. Fenders will ensure that any puddles or road grime don't reach your clothing. The Civia commuter bikes we offer have a built in generator that powers a bright headlight for safe riding at night, and can be fitted with traditional derailleurs or, for minimal maintenance, internal gearing. Riding these bikes brought us back to the carefree moments of our childhood; they are tremendously fun to ride.
If there is no secure place to keep your bicycle at work, why not do like George Jetson and just fold it up into its own case and take it with you? Bike Friday makes an extraordinarily good folding bike that truly rides like it's full sized but folds in 30 seconds. It is ideal for commuting and traveling but can also be raced alongside its full sized brethren. Although offered in stock sizes, a Bike Friday is also the least expensive way to get a full custom bike. Very small or very tall riders will no longer feel like they have to adapt to someone else's bike. It's such a pleasure that many people start out cyclo-commuting and find that they want to ride on the weekends, too.
So, if you already love to ride and are looking for a better way to get to work, or are just interested in taking back control of your commute, saving money and getting in shape, please don't hesitate to contact us.
