Change, as Ringo sang, don't come easy. But "easy" isn't our goal. Performance is. Being the most popular brand of cycling shoe, Sidi is easy. So it may surprise you to learn that we don't sell them. It's not that they don't make good shoes. Some of us wore them for years. But we, like our customers, had some issues with them. So we wondered, is there something better?

We didn't know, so we tested a variety of stock and custom cycling shoes and let our feet decide. Comfort, of course, was primary. Light weight was a plus. But after having one manufacturer's custom shoes literally fall apart (twice!), we realized that durability isn't a given. So we tried each pair for a month unless we felt we needed more time to give the shoes a fair shake. After many months, thousands of miles and sometimes sore feet, one shoe really stood out. We started the test with divergent opinions; we ended up choosing the one that nobody wanted to take off:  D2.

These shoes did something that just blew us away: they disappeared. We never experienced that before. Obviously, Don and Dan (the "Ds" of D2) aren't just master craftsmen, they understand what cyclists need and they give it to them. The shoes cradle your feet, which is essential to prevent blisters and hammer toe, without being tight. Over time, the uppers will conform to your foot but, unlike Sidi, they won't stretch. So they won't just feel good in the store or the first few rides, they'll feel good for the life of the shoe (and considering they can be rebuilt, that's a really long time). We were also amazed that the D2 eliminated pain that even custom orthotic inserts hadn't and we were alerted to the sad fact that some of us had never ridden without pain. Cycling without pain. Now that's a change worth making.
